Day 1- Thursday, March 30, Genova
Arriving in Genova Airport (GOA) each guest will transfer on their own to the village Camogli on the Italian Riviera. After checking into the Hotel, the remainder of the day is yours to relax, before joining the group for a welcome dinner with Walter and Alex Bartman. Accommodations:Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi, upgrade to sea view room or suite available. https://www.cenobio.it/en/home Meals: Welcome Dinner Day 2- Friday, March 31, Camogli Painting on the Italian Riviera, right from our beautiful hotel. we will relax and have a whole day workshop. For the non-painters this is a rich area for exploring. Great restaurants and bars, hikes and guided tours of all kinds. We will be painting for 8 hours. Accommodations:Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi Meals: Breakfast, Dinner Day 3- Saturday, April 1 - Rapallo Rapallo is the largest seaside resort on the Italian Riviera. There's a picturesque castle on the sea, a small harbor and seaside promenade, and pedestrian shopping streets in the historical center. The funivia, or cable car, ride up the hill to Montallegro is breath-taking. Today we will be painting in the two locations. The first session at the church of Ruta high above the coast and the 2nd session in Rapallo at the port and castle. We will be painting for 8 hours. Day 4- Sunday, April 2 - Portofino
Portofino is one of the most iconic places of the Italian Riviera. All over the world, in fact, they know the image of this magnificent seaside village, nestled in the green headland, with its tall colorful houses arranged in a semi-circle around the famous Piazzetta. We will have the full day to paint with Walter as our guide. We will be painting for 8 hours.

Day 5- Monday, April 3- Abbazia di San Fruttuoso
Today we will take the ferry to one of the prettiest coves on the sea . San Fruttuoso Bay is a wonderful location set in a small cove of the Portofino area, between the lush green of the Portofino Regional Natural Park and the blue of the sea. This beautiful place, quiet, protected and so difficult to reach was ideal for monks to build a monastery. Here, near the water source that is still visible today, stands the Abbey of San Fruttuoso.
We will be painting for 8 hours.

Day 6 – Tuesday, April 4- Lerici
Today we will leave the Italian Riviera for Lerici and the “Bay of Poets”. After checking into our hotel we will meet for an afternoon painting session right from our hotel. We will be painting for 4 hours.

Day 7- Wednesday, April 5- Porto Venere
This morning we are taking the ferry to Portovenere, on the Gulf of Poets, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its picturesque harbor is lined with brightly colored houses while narrow medieval streets lined with shops lead up the hill from the ancient city gate to the castle. Stroll around the old town and find your perfect spot to paint.
We will be painting for 8 hours.

Day 8 - Thursday, April 6- Manarola and Riomaggiore
Today our first session is in pretty Manarola, which is the second-smallest of the five towns of the Cinque Terre. The colorful houses of Manarola seem to tumble down to its small harbor on the bright blue Ligurian Sea, making it one of the most photographed of the Cinque Terre's picturesque villages. Our second session will be in Riomaggiore village, which was originally founded in the 8th century by Greek refugees anxious to take advantage of the naturally rich soil and abundant sea life surrounding it. The Riomaggiore that we see today, however, actually dates back to the 13th century. We will have a full workshop day of 8 hours.

Day 9- Friday, April 7th -Say goodbye to Italy
Transfer to the next destination. 1:25 to Genoa airport.

My partner does not paint, is there something for him/her to do?
Yes, we are painting about 6-7 hours a day. Most locations are in villages or places of interest. There is ample time and things for a non-painter to do and explore. Lake Como and Cinque Terre are very walkable and easy to explore. How many hours a day will we be painting? Every day we will be painting a minimum of 6-8 hours. There will also be the option for sunset and night painting. We list daily in the itinerary the estimated hours for each day. We start off lighter and increase the hours as the week progresses. Is my deposit of $400 refundable? No, we have limited space and need a commitment from each guest. Please note that the deposit of $400 per guest is NON-REFUNDABLE except in the case that the trip does not meet the minimum number of participants. Where are we staying? We are staying 5 nights in Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi https://www.cenobio.it/en/home And in Camogli , 3 nights in Europa Grand Hotel https://www.doriahotels.com/europa/it-IT- La Spezia area. How do we pack? We have two pre-meeting at the Yellow Barn Studio before the trip to explain packing and general information. Both meetings are broadcast live for those that can't physically attend. Do I need Travel Insurance? Where can I purchase Insurance? We highly recommend Travel Insurance. Travel insurance is based on many factors and the price varies from person to person. No, This is a land package only. How do I book my flights? As soon as the group is formed we will be sending out airfare quotes from the surrounding DC area. If booking your own airfare:
Departure from the USA no later than Wednesday, March 29th to the Genova airport (GOA) Walter Bartman workshop ends Friday, April 7th out of the Genova airport (GOA). As for the April 7th transfer we have a transfer currently arriving in Genova airport (GOA) at 8:30am. You need to be in the airport 2.5 in advance of your flight. Please send us your flight information asap to info@tiernotours.com. How do I get from the airport to the Hotel? Day 1 each guest will get there own transfer to the hotel in Camogli. A taxi is about 30Euro. On Day 10 we have a transfer for all guests. If you are coming in before the workshop we recommend the Hotel de Ville in Genova. It is in the historic center within walking distance of all the main sites. How much is the cost of the Transfer? Private taxi about 30euro for 2 persons with bags, shared minivan 80euro up to 4/5 persons with bags. We will help everyone based on all your plans before and after the workshop to get the best rates for airfare and transfers. |
